PTE is deemed an essential service, and therefore cannot be closed. February: The planning of the wedding of Eric Riccy and Kaitlin hits turbulent waters as the pandemic rages on. Eric Riccy starts playing around with Plug-ins and music making. A literal day later, Daft Punk retires. March:  April: Life continues to toy with Dyland.   On a somewhat related note I'm going through my old music and updating information wherever possible.

   

Throughout this past year and a half, I've been working my way through my collection of books. Taking a break from the  A Song of Ice and Fire series I decided to re-read J. R. R. Tolkien 's   The Hobbit.  Thorin Oakenshield's last words are a much-needed reminder to realign my perspective on life. "If more  of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." I think it'll still be some time before I return to Westeros; I will move onto Genevieve Gornichec's The Witch's Heart next. One can always use more Loki in their life.

 

 

I've recently started playing around with plug-ins in Audacity. I've proceeded to glitch it out a few times, but I've learned a lot. I managed to install a vocoder that is reminiscent of a tool I used in my broadcasting booth days. Overall it's actually an easier process than you might expect. It helps that this guide exists . I personally love wiki-style guides; I find them so very intuitive. This doesn't mean new music coming soon per se, but it does mean I'm actually doing something. (And having fun??) Also through my research I found Princess Problems.  According to the sources, another of her monikers has been "Plural", of Dj Hmx ft Plural. If that's still not ringing a bell, maybe this might help .

 

Another friend's wedding post-poned today. Understandably so, given the times.  I received an e-mail yesterday from my chosen venue, questioning if my wedding would be going on this year as planned. It's put my love and I in a tailspin, as we now reckon with the outcomes that could be. Perhaps coincidentally, a gift I ordered online with the original wedding date engraved showed up yesterday. Is it a sign? Or another jab by life?  We had planned to get married indoors, specifically to try to prevent bad weather ruining the wedding. Alas, life found a way to bring bad weather indoors.    What are your thoughts?

 In other news, the essential/non-essential system will now be suspended until further notice.

Friday - Binged watched YouTube videos until 2 AM  Saturday - Played theHunter: Call of the Wild with girlfriend until 4 AM Sunday - Played Civilization VI with the boys until 3 AM Monday - Pulled all-nighter catching up on client work Today - Plan to play more Civilization VI with the boys until 3 AM I'm sure it's DEFINITELY NOT my lifestyle choices, so I'm just going to blame the ageing process.

 

To find myself posting like this again means one and only thing: The characters gimmick backfired; 'old school' PTE remains the most sought version. My fault for throwing myself in the ring as a control variable. But the numbers generated is quite valuable to me, so thank you to those who voted ! I suppose at this point I should follow the format... What is the new news in the real world of Eric Riccy? Since January is typically a mundane month, let's start with a recap of the (very different) holiday season. It figures the year that visiting is illegal, I would get a decent amount of time off. I managed 2 4-day weekends due to keeping current with work. The holiday days themselves were the norm for these times: Sitting on the couch, seeing people virtually. It was very nice to see all the family, even if through a screen. I suppose with my LDR experience, it phases me even less; Screen-based communication is but something you just get used to.
